What Do We Mean by Body Balance
Did you know that the majority of activity in your brain almost all of the time is devoted to keeping you in a balanced position? Your head stays straight, your shoulders keep in position, and a thousand other muscles and joints devote themselves to keeping you in a balanced position at any time. As simple and obvious a concept as this is, it is difficult for most people to realize that any disruption in this balancing act can have a deleterious effect on your health. The sheer quantity of brain, muscle, bone, and joint power which is devoted towards keeping your body in balance, as well as the placement of many important balancing components near other important centers of the brain makes this a critical area of health. This is why a body out of balance can evidence a wide variety of symptoms not just limited to aches and pains, but mild to severe immune depression, nervous conditions, and other conditions which don't seem to related to body balance, but are actually impacted by the disruption or even inefficiency of nearby nerves and brain centers.
We can clarify the concept of body balance by explaining its opposite first - the syndrome of body imbalance. A body out of balance can develop a wide range of symptoms, both directly related to the system of muscles, bones, and joints, and indirect effects due to subtle or severe disruption of basic nervous system function (particularly in the critical area of the brain stem, as described below).
- Nervous Tension
- Numbness
- Muscle Spasms
- Arm Pain
- Sinus Problems
- Lower Back Pain
- Loss of Sleep
- Allergies
- Knee Pain
- Fatigue
- Asthma
- Nervousness
- Hip Pain
- Seizures
- Shoulder Pain
- Headaches
- Depression
- Tight muscles
- Stiffness
- Chronic Infection
- Neck Pain
- Hypertension
- Herniated Discs
Common ailments such as arm, neck, back, and knee pain are just a few of the ailments that are present as symptoms of the body imbalance syndrome. Others are Headaches, numbness, herniated discs, seizures, tension, loss of sleep. Indeed, many symptoms of the disease process can be fundamentally caused by compromised Body Balance.
If the body becomes imbalanced (usually due to physical, chemical, or emotional stress) it is out of alignment. Above all, the misalignment can cause stress, tension, and pressure on the brain stem which in turn impedes the flow of the electrical and chemical (life giving) messages from the brain to some parts of the body. The most extreme form of this syndrome is the relatively permanent one suffered by many professional athletes in physical accidents. Quadriplegics such as Christopher Reeve suffer their conditions as a result of injury to the brain stem. However, the diseased person without manifestation of permanent brain stem injury usually goes through life suffering the ails of brain stem tension, stress, and the concomitant Body Imbalance. It is important to realize that conventional medical and orthopedic diagnoses do not take into account neuro-spinal distortions until they are grossly evident, such as in cases of permanent spinal cord injuries. And then it is far too late for any correction to assist.
Pain and decreased function result when the body does not receive the proper health and healing messages from the brain. Symptoms are a signal of body imbalance.
